The board meets for the purpose of hearing appeals related to the assessment of tax on motor vehicles and property. Members are appointed by general town election. Authority is derived from Section 5-3 of the Chaplin Town Charter, from Chapter 203 of the General Statutes of Connecticut, and from additional statues.
