  1. “Shall the Town of Chaplin appropriate the sum of $8,407,506 for the General Government and Education Expenditures for Fiscal Year July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 as recommended by the Board of Finance?”  Yes=135, No=16.
  2. “May any horizontal curve sign installed by the State in the right of way of any Town road without prior objection by the Town, be removed by the Board of Selectmen upon citizen complaint, even if removal charges may be applied, and litigation and even Town liability are possible if an accident occurs near a point of removal?” Yes=57, No=93, Blank=1

The following job opportunities are available for the Town of Chaplin:  

RECREATION COMMISSION: DIRECTOR OF RECREATION Part-time position - The Town of Chaplin seeks a qualified person to be our Director of Recreation.  This position is for a non-benefited, part-time employee working under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectman and supervision of the Recreation Commission, performing administrative, supervisory and professional work in the planning, development and operation of a comprehensive public sports and recreation program for the community.  An annual average of five hours of work per week will be required in return for annual compensation of approximately $3,000.00.

FIRE MARSHAL: The Town of Chaplin is currently looking to fill the appointed position of Fire Marshal.  The Fire Marshal must be certified by the State of CT Fire Marshal.  This is a non-union, non-benefited, paid position with a yearly stipend.  Fire marshals are responsible for enforcing, within their jurisdictions, provisions of law governing fire safety and fire prevention as well as provisions of codes, mainly the fire safety and fire prevention codes, promulgated under the law.   With regard to building and structures, fire marshals make the initial determination that buildings and structures comply with the pertinent codes, statutes, and regulations, except where the law or regulations expressly provide otherwise.  Fire marshals are also required to investigate fires to determine cause.  If you are interested in applying for this position please send your resume to assistant@chaplinct.org or contact the First Selectman’s office at the Chaplin Town Hall, 495 Phoenixville Road, Chaplin CT 06235, 860-455-0073 ext. 310.

 

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - TEMPORARY ON-CALL DRIVER/OPERATOR/LABORER:  The Town of Chaplin has an opening for a temporary, on-call position under the direction of the DPW Supervisor and the First Selectman. CDL license required (Class A preferred).  This is a non-benefited position with a salary range from $17.94-$20.85 per hour.
