Town Of Chaplin News

Election Day - November 4, 2014!

Nov 3, 2014 -

To My Fellow Citizens,

This Tuesday November 4th is Election Day. The Town of Chaplin polling station is located at the Chaplin Volunteer Fire Department, #106 Phoenixville Road (Rt. 198) Chaplin. The polls will be open from 6AM to 8PM. Along with deciding who will be our next Governor as well as several other elected officers you will also be asked to vote for a change in the state Constitution.

Click here for links to a sample ballot and the complete explanatory text for the Constitutional change for your review before going to the polls. In the attached Amendment Text document the words that have a line through them will be deleted from the Constitution and will be replaced with the words that are underlined.

The ballot question will ask voters whether the Connecticut constitution should be amended to allow the legislature and governor the power to change how and when residents vote in Connecticut.

Here is the wording of the question you will see on the ballot: Shall the Constitution of the state be amended to remove restrictions concerning absentee ballots and to permit a person to vote without appearing at a polling place on the day of an election?

A "yes" vote on the question will mean the Constitution will be amended to exclude the crossed out text and include the new underlined text.

A "no" vote on the question will keep the rules as they are.

Please be an informed voter and exercise your right to vote.

William H. Rose IV

First Selectman
