ATTENTION CHAPLIN DOG OWNERS: JUNE IS LICENSING MONTH! 

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes §22-338, all dogs six months or older must be licensed. 

Fees are as follows: $8.00 for a neutered or spayed dog, and $19.00 for an unaltered dog.  Cash or check.

Valid rabies certificate required. New dog registrations require proof from your vet if your dog has been spayed/neutered.

All current dog licenses expire on June 30, 2026. There is a $1.00 per month late fee after July 1st.

Notary Public

NOTARY SERVICES:

The Town of Chaplin offers notary services to the public.  The notary in the Town Hall is able to: 

  • Administer an oath
  • Notarize acknowledgements
  • Notarize an affidavit

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two forms of identification, at least one of which also contains the photograph of the signer
  • Signer MUST sign the document IN FRONT OF THE NOTARY in order to authenticate the signature

 The following documents are unable and prohibited to be notarized by the Town:

  • A conveyance of land or property
  • Living or general wills
  • Birth, death or marriage certificates - those vital records filed in our Town Clerk/Vital Statistics Office are available as certified copies at a cost of $20.00
  • Any statement that requires the notary to swear to the authenticity of a document for which the notary is not the custodian
  • Anything, from anyone, who is not appearing before us in person
