Board of Education

The Board of Education meets the second Wednesday of each month except July, when there is no meeting, at 6:30 pm in the Chaplin School Library.

The Chaplin Board of Education is a seven-member board of elected officers responsible for oversight of Chaplin Elementary School.  The Board is created and governed by state law.

The Board’s role is to

  • develop, implement and monitor school policies;
  • provide high-level oversight of curriculum;
  • select and evaluate the Superintendent;
  • work with the Superintendent and school Principal to set goals that guide staff and administrators in implementing Board policies;
  • manage negotiations with collective bargaining units and create grievance or hearing panels as needed;
  • oversee the school budget; and
  • build public support and understanding of public school education. 

Board members are agents of the state who must uphold and enforce federal and state laws, rules, regulations and court orders pertaining to public schools.
