When will you be receiving your tax bills?

EXECUTIVE ORDER 7.S

Under Governor Lamont's Executive order, and by unanimous vote of the Chaplin Board of Selectmen, all tax payers are given an extended grace period, until October 1, 2020 to pay taxes without interest.  On October 2, 2020 all interest and payments will be due and payable back to the due date of July 1, 2020 for a total of 6% interest.  While the Executive Order does provide for the town to require residents to show covid-related need for this deferment, the Chaplin BOS voted to offer it to every taxpayer in order not to create a paperwork burden for taxpayers or town officials.  This policy assumes the honesty and good will of our citizens.  But government must still operate, so please do not delay paying your taxes unless the pandemic has made it impossible to pay on time.  Stay safe and healthy!

WITH COVID-19 this year in our communities we STRONGLY encourage using MAIL and ONLINE PAYMENTS.  WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN OUR DOORS WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND WE DO NOT ENCOURAGE STANDING IN LINES THIS YEAR.  THERE IS ALSO A DROP BOX OUTSIDE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.
